Phrases
This
phrase is most often translated "in the sight of" or "in the
eyes of" the LORD. It is a use of the figure of speech condescension,
giving God human characteristics. God is spirit (John 4:24). He does not literally
have eyes. This figure of speech, condescensio as it was called by the
ancients, puts great emphasis on the reality that God's perspective is
different than men's and that His perspective counts more.
